This engagement fosters practical experience, strengthens critical competencies, and contributes to the development of socially conscious graduates committed to advancing inclusive and sustainable communities.

Student Engagement Series

The Student Community Engagement Series of the Centre for the Advancement of Social Impact and Transformation (CASIT) is a structured platform designed to cultivate active, informed, and socially responsive student participation. The series creates intentional spaces for dialogue, learning, and collaboration, enabling students to engage critically with contemporary social challenges while exploring their role as agents of change.

Through a combination of workshops, seminars, dialogues, and experiential learning opportunities, the series connects theory to practice by foregrounding real-world issues such as inequality, sustainability, inclusion, and community development. It encourages interdisciplinary engagement and fosters partnerships between students, academic staff, and community stakeholders.

The Student Engagement Series not only strengthens students’ civic consciousness and leadership capacity but also supports the development of practical skills in problem-solving, ethical decision-making, and collaborative action. In doing so, it advances CASIT’s broader mandate of embedding social impact and transformation within the institutional culture and student experience at Stellenbosch University.
