Description
About
The Pebbles Project is a Stellenbosch-based non-profit dedicated to supporting children and families in farming communities across the Western Cape. Since 2004, they have worked in areas such as Stellenbosch, Somerset West, Wellington, Citrusdal, Clanwilliam and Hemel-en-Aarde. Their work covers early childhood development (ECD), after-school clubs, health, nutrition, social work, and special educational needs.
Why this matters
Children in agricultural/farmworker communities often face multiple disadvantages: limited access to quality early learning, health and nutrition issues, as well as challenges associated with alcohol-related dysfunction (for example Fetal Alcohol Syndrome). The Pebbles Project gives these children the support and interventions that improve school readiness, wellbeing, and lifelong potential.
