Description
Description: SLEAK creates opportunities for Gr.4-7 learners from Bishop Lavis to successfully fulfill their developmental tasks of this developmental stage of their lives. These development tasks include social co-operation, participation to acquire skills, self-appreciation and social co-operation. These tasks are fulfilled in the SLEAK sessions by the learners participating in constructive leisure activities that facilitate the development of the needed resilience to be able to withstand the challenging and resource constricted environment that they are in. This program provides structured leisure activities to these learners so that they can learn transferable skills that ensure the improvement of social and interpersonal skills, resilience and basic work ability. These skills are then transferred to their home and school environments.
Impact
Goal 4: Quality education
Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.” The indicators for this goal are, for example, attendance rates at primary schools, completion rates of primary school education, participation in tertiary education, and so forth. In each case, parity indices are looked at to ensure that disadvantaged students do not miss out (data is collected on “female/male, rural/urban, bottom/top wealth quintile and others such as disability status, indigenous peoples”). There is also an indicator around the facilities that the school buildings have (access to electricity, the internet, computers, drinking water, toilets etc.).
